Does this sound like you?

Sudden health trouble in an unfamiliar country is stressful.
You are not alone — we are here to help.

  • I suddenly have a fever, a cold or a sore throat
  • I have stomach pain, nausea or diarrhea
  • I have run out of my regular medication
  • I have no family doctor in Japan and don't know where to go
  • My child got sick while we are traveling

What is our Inbound Outpatient Service?

Sumida Ryogoku Machinaka Clinic provides internal medicine and pediatric care 360 days a year, a 2-minute walk from Ryogoku Station. We offer outpatient care for international visitors staying in Japan — including sudden illness and help refilling regular medications.

If you are worried about the language, you can still receive care smoothly by bringing your medication record (Okusuri-techo), an English prescription, or by using a translation app.

Why choose us

We put your health and safety first.

01

Fever, colds, stomach trouble and other sudden symptoms during your stay are examined and treated in person.

02

Medication refill support

Bring your medication record or prescription and we will help within the scope we can provide.

03

Clear fee schedule

Self-pay fees from ¥25,000 (tax included), depending on the day and time. Credit cards accepted, medical certificate included.

Conditions we can treat

We treat sudden symptoms that commonly occur during a stay in Japan.

  • Fever & cold symptoms (cough, sore throat, runny nose)
  • Seasonal infections (flu-like illness)
  • Stomach trouble (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)
  • Sudden allergic symptoms (such as hives)
  • Sudden fever or illness in children
Please note: For life-threatening symptoms — severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness or convulsions — please call emergency services (119) before visiting. If tests or specialized treatment are needed, we will refer you to a partner medical institution.

Run out of your regular medication?

If you have run out of the medicine you usually take, please consult us. Bringing something that shows the name, ingredient and dosage of your medication (a medication record, an English prescription, or a photo / the package) will help your visit go smoothly.

After examining you, we will prescribe within the scope of what we are able to provide. Some medications — such as psychotropic drugs and certain special medicines — may not be available; in that case we will refer you to an appropriate medical institution.
